WHAT WE BELIEVE

The following are the core beliefs of Stonehill Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

GOD

We believe in one God, existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
(Genesis 1:1,26, Matthew 28:18, John 10:30)

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit baptizes believers into the body of Christ, seals them for salvation, regenerates them to new life, empowers them for service and witness, imparts spiritual gifts, and is fully present to continually fill, guide and equip the believer for Christ-like living.
(John 14:16-17, John 3:5-8, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:9-11,
I Corinthians 1:10-13)

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into the right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that he could be a substitute for us in satisfying God's demands for perfection.
(John 1:1, 14, John 14:6, I Corinthians 15:17)

BIBLE

We believe the Bible to be the inspirited and only infallible, authoritative word of God without error and is the final authority in doctrine and practice. We believe the Bible (All sixty-six books) is Holy Scripture and was written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and serves as the only trustworthy blueprint for our lives.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, John 5:46-47, 2 Peter 1:21)

CHURCH

We believe that there is one family of God, comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe that the scripture teaches his children to gather together in local assemblies called churches.
(Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24-25, Acts 14:23, I Peter 5:1-4)

SALVATION

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that He rose victoriously from the Grave; all those who accept His gift of salvation by faith alone will be saved. The free gift of salvation is provided by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone.
(John 3:16, John 6:44, Romans 6:23, John 14:6, Romans 10:9-10)

MAN

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. Although this corruption is pardoned through Christ, it is never completely gone until our glorification with Christ, thus serving as a reminder of our desperate need for a Savior. (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 3:23, I Corinthians 3:18)

ETERNITY

We believe that there is a literal place called heaven for those who have accepted Christ and a literal place called hell for those who have rejected Jesus.  (Luke 23:43, I Corinthians 5:8, I Corinthians 15:35-54, Luke 16:19-26)

JESUS RETURNS

The Lord Jesus will personally return to the earth in bodily form, that return will be both visible and glorious. After this, judgment will ensue and all of humanity will enter into their respective eternal states." (I Corinthians 15:51-54, Titus 2:13, Revelation 6:17, 7:14, I Thessalonians 3:13, Revelation 3:10, Revelation 20:7-15, 2 Peter 3:13)
