The following are the core beliefs of Stonehill Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God is Great
We believe in one God, existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spririt. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority. (Genesis 1:1,26)
God is Always Present
We believe that the Holy Spirit was sent into the world by the Father and the Son to apply to mankind the saving work of Christ. (John 14:16-17)
God Became Man
Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that he could be a substitute for us in satisfying God's demands for perfection. (John 1:1, 14)
God Wrote the Book
We believe the Bible to be the inspirited and only infallible, authoritative word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)
God's Design for Community
We belive that there is one family of God, comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe that the scripture teaches his children to gather together in local assemblies called churches. (Acts 2:42-47)
God is the Only Way
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that He rose victoriously from the Grave; all those who accept His gift of salvation by faith alone will be saved. (John 3:16)
God's Image Bearers
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 3:23)
Eternity: Somewhere Forever
Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated form God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternal separated from God is Hell. To be eternal in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
God is Coming Back
We believe in the personal and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
