Our Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Stonehill Church, founded on the timeless truths of God’s Word. Every aspect of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

What we

BELIEVE

Triune God
We believe God is eternal, self existent, all knowing, all powerful, and everywhere present. He is one God in three persons Father, Son, and Holy Spirit fully divine, united in essence and sovereign over all creation (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)
God The Father
We believe God the Father is fully divine, loving, and sovereign. United with the Son and Spirit, He adopts all who trust in Christ and calls them His children

(Isaiah 63:16; John 20:17; Romans 8:14–17)
God the Son
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. Sinless and born of a virgin, He died as our substitute and rose again, securing eternal life for all who believe

(John 1:1,14; Luke 1:35; John 14:6)
God the Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully divine, eternally united with the Father and Son. He convicts, draws, regenerates, seals, indwells, empowers, gives spiritual gifts, and works in many other ways, shaping believers into Christ’s likeness

(John 16:7–13; Romans 8:9–11; 1 Corinthians 12:4–13)
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and our highest authority for faith and life. All sixty six books were written under the Holy Spirit’s guidance and are fully trustworthy

(2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:21; John 5:46–47)
Man and Sin
We believe God created humanity male and female in His image, yet all sinned and stand separated from Him. Through Christ’s death and resurrection we are forgiven, reconciled, and empowered to walk in new life

(Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; Colossians 1:21–22; 2 Corinthians 5:17)
Salvation
We believe salvation is God’s gift, received by grace through faith in Jesus alone. Through His death and resurrection we are forgiven, made new, and eternally secure, producing a transformed life.

(Ephesians 2:8–9; John 14:6; 2 Corinthians 5:17; John 10:28)
The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ with Jesus as Head, made up of all believers. Local churches gather for worship, teaching, fellowship, and mission, led by elders and pastors who shepherd the flock

(Ephesians 1:22–23; Acts 2:42; Matthew 28:19–20)
Eternity
We believe believers are with the Lord at death and will be raised to eternal life in the new heaven and earth. Unbelievers face eternal judgment in hell. Jesus will personally return, and we live with hope and readiness

(1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 21:1–4; Matthew 25:46)
Baptism
We believe baptism is the immersion of a believer, publicly declaring faith and union with Christ’s death and resurrection. It follows salvation as obedience and does not justify, but is a fruit of grace

(Romans 6:3–4; Acts 2:41; Ephesians 2:8–9; Matthew 28:19)
Communion
We believe Communion is a regular remembrance of Christ’s body given and blood shed. He is spiritually present with believers who receive by faith, and we partake with reverence, self examination, and hope of His return. At Stonehill, we typically observe Communion once a month

(Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–29)
Priesthood of the Believer
We believe every believer has direct access to God through Jesus, our great High Priest. All Christians share in the priesthood, using their spiritual gifts to serve the Church and advance His mission

(Hebrews 4:14–16; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7)
